for its great Easter tradition. This event is one of the things you can’t miss on your visit.
It lasts a total of two weeks, with a series of processions, masses, parades and events. The cofradías and brotherhoods actively participate, filling the town with emotion:
● Ash Wednesday with Lenten acts and Holy Week proclamation in the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista.
● Procession of the Virgen de los Dolores, in the Way of the Cross.
● Palm Sunday with the Procession of the Palms.
● Easter Monday, where the Brotherhood of Las Ánimas organises a Via Crucis, from the Parish of Corpus Christi.
● Holy Tuesday with the Procession of Forgiveness, including: the Prayer in the Garden, the Denial of St. Peter, the Jesus of the Rescue, the Christ of the Scourge, the Christ of Forgiveness, the Pietà and the Solitude.
● Holy Wednesday, the Procession of the Prendimiento is held in the main streets of the centre of Archena, with eight thrones.
Maundy Thursday, where the death of the Saviour is commemorated.
● Good Friday begins at midnight with the Procession of Silence and the Stations of the Cross, with the parade of the throne of Christ of Mount Calvary. It is followed by the Sorrowful Encounter, the Holy Week Sermon and the Sorrowful Encounter Procession, with 13 thrones.
On the following Saturday, the Easter Vigil is organised and then comes the Easter Sunday, ehe most festive, joyful and exciting. It begins with the Glorious Meeting with the dancing of the steps, the release of doves and balloons and the A shower of sweets! This celebration ends with the Procession of the Risen Christ.

It is considered Asset of Cultural Interest, as it revives the old esparto activity from the 18th century until the middle of the 20th century.
The routes in Archena are designed so that you can get to know each of its corners and enjoy its variety. These are the most outstanding routes in the region, which will fill you with emotions during your visit:
● Ruta de los Miradores del Ope: a 2-hour, moderate hike, with 8 km through the best views of Archena, from the highest hill.
● 3 Cultures Route: a low-intensity hike that will take you to learn about the three most important cultures that inhabited the region and left their legacy. It goes through the Roman “masio” ruins, the Vicente Medina walk, where a medieval castle was
a medieval castle took place and finally, the Muslim legacy, with the “Noria del Matar” and the “Last Moorish Valley”.
