Entering Archena at the junction with the national road that connects it with Murcia and Madrid, there is a fortress-like building with historicist references. Its location on a hilltop and the simplicity of its structure, a prism with cylinders at the corners, make it easy to retain the building. The truth is that the so-called Castle of Don Mario (in honour of its owner, Don Mario Spreáfico, a magnificent doctor and an excellent person), in reality an old dovecote, is today one of the most characteristic signs of identity of the village.
