Chimenea de Basilio
Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, Archena fue dotada de nuevos servicios al tiempo que surgía una incipiente producción industrial. Entre otras innovaciones que llegaron a la localidad, se realizaron todas las carreteras que hoy conducen al pueblo, los primeros faroles del alumbrado público y las aceras en las calles principales.
También se produjo un aumento en la agricultura que hizo posible un importante desarrollo de la industria conservera, ello fue debido a que ahora se disponía de los terrenos provenientes del proceso desamortizador y al uso de motores que permitían llevar el agua a las tierras de secano. Es de esta manera que Archena llegó a tener una importante cantidad de fábricas, al introducir en estas las calderas de vapor, hicieron imprescindibles el uso de chimeneas para evacuar los humos que se generaban.
La construcción de las chimeneas se construían desde dentro; un solo hombre ayudado con ganchos metálicos en forma de horquilla iba ascendiendo por las paredes que el mismo levantaba hasta alcanzar los veinte metros de altura. En los años sesenta, la aparición del fuel-oil industrial, motivó que las chimeneas dejaran de ser necesarias. Todavía hoy se pueden contemplar en Archena 5 de estas chimeneas catalogadas como Patrimonio Histórico.
En Archena existen cinco chimeneas históricas, datadas de principios de siglo XX, utilizadas para la evacuación de humos de las calderas de vapor de fábricas conserveras del municipio. Se construían desde dentro por una sola persona ayudada con ganchos metálicos, quien iba subiendo por las paredes, que él mismo levantaba, hasta alcanzar unos 20 metros de altura que aproximadamente mide cada chimenea y están catalogadas como Patrimonio Histórico, y su conservación a lo largo del tiempo nos ha dejado constancia de la prosperidad de la actividad industrial en la localidad.

During the second half of the 19th century, Archena was provided with new services at the same time as incipient industrial production began. There was also an increase in agriculture that made possible an important development of the canning industry, which was due to the fact that now there was land available from the disentailment process and the use of engines that allowed water to be brought to the dry lands. This is how Archena came to have a large number of factories, and the introduction of steam boilers made it essential to use chimneys to evacuate the fumes that were generated. The chimneys were built from the inside; a single man helped by metal hooks in the shape of a fork climbed up the walls that he himself raised until he reached a height of twenty metres. In the 1960s, with the advent of industrial fuel oil, the chimneys were no longer necessary. Even today, five of these chimneys can still be seen in Archena and are listed as Historical Heritage.
There are five historic chimneys in Archena, dating from the beginning of the 20th century, which were used to evacuate smoke from the steam boilers of the canning factories in the municipality.
